   PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARIS

All of Zambia's safaris and game lodges offer superb photographic opportunities, either from a walking safari or an open vehicle. Good low-lighting conditions and rich colours abound on early morning and late evening game drives or walks.

If photography is your thing, some of the operators specialise in catering to the photographer.

Tips:a good zoom lens, 200mm or longer will prove very useful on safari. Be sure to carry your equipment in a well-padded heat and dust-proof case.

Robin Pope Safaris sometimes offer special photography workshop safaris. After years of hosting these workshops the RPS guides are extremely good at guiding keen photographers at their three camps all situated on the banks of the Luangwa River.

Hemingways  offers tailor made tours and safaris anywhere in Zambia (specialising in trips to the remote Liuwa Plains). They also offer specialist vehicle hire and disabled accessible transport and can organise accommodation and adventure activities throughout Zambia and Southern Africa.

Other lodges offering excellent safaris for photographic opportunities are  Mfuwe Lodge, Kapani,  South Luangwa, Shiwa Safaris in North Luangwa, Shenton Safaris, Norman Carr Safaris, Track and Trail River Camp, and Tafika in South Luangwa.  Mwaleshi in the North Park.

Chiawa, Kasakasaka, Kanyemba, in the Lower Zambezi.

Wildside Tours & Safaris offers a range of tours in the region offering excellent photo opportunities.

African Horizons offer a range of Safaris in Zambia and also some that include Botswana

Zambia Outdoors also organises in any kind of Safari in Zambia from the UK

The Bushcamp Company has 4 comfortable bush camps set up permanently along the Luangwa River. Guests walk from camp to camp each day through the game-intense and bird-rich South Luangwa National Park.

Ngoko Safaris offers privately guided tours throughout Zambia

Cholwe Adventures offer a 10 day trip from Livingstone - to the Lochinvar National Park, overnight in Lusaka, Kafue National Park, and the remote Liuwa Plains in the west, stopping off at the beautiful Sioma Falls on the way back to Livingstone.

Nomad African Travel offers set guided tours and tailor made tours both within Zambia and other countries in Southern Africa. All tours offer excellent photographic opportunities. Alternatively you can be privately guided.

Track and Trail River Camp Photography can be frustrating but rewarding as well. We hope through this guided trip to increase the enjoyment of photography and share some extraordinary images of Luangwa’s wildlife. This area offers endless opportunities to improve your skills. We will shoot most pictures from an open game viewer  which permits a close approach to the subject. We will limit the number of people on the vehicle to six, so everybody will have enough space and can take pictures from both sides. We will be up early every day, as low light of early morning (or evening) will be most favourable for good results. You will be accompanied by a professional safari guide and photographer Peter Geraerdts  www.luangwariver.com
