Once ravaged by poaching, deforestation, dynamite fishing, and indiscriminate logging, the area has been meticulously restored into Zambia’s first fully fenced private reserve. Through dedicated conservation efforts, Lolelunga has successfully reintroduced a variety of indigenous species, including the iconic Big 5, and is proud to be home to rare and endangered wildlife such as cheetahs, pangolins, and the elusive sitatunga antelope.
Guests are invited to experience the raw beauty and exhilarating freedom of the African wilderness. Once a barren landscape stripped of its natural wealth by unsustainable livestock farming, rampant poaching, deforestation, dynamite fishing, and indiscriminate logging, the area was on the brink of ecological collapse. Today, it stands proudly as Zambia’s first fully fenced private reserve, spanning 30,000 hectares of rehabilitated wilderness.
The transformation began as an ambitious conservation initiative with a bold vision: to restore balance to the ecosystem and create a sanctuary where wildlife could once again thrive. Through years of tireless effort and strategic rewilding, indigenous species, including elephants, buffalo, and a variety of plains game have returned to their natural habitat. The successful reintroduction of the Big 5, alongside rare and endangered species such as cheetahs, pangolins, and the elusive sitatunga antelope, marks a major milestone in the reserve’s journey.
Beyond conservation, Lolelunga is committed to uplifting surrounding communities. Former poachers have been given a new path as conservationists, while access to clean water has been secured for local villages.
