When Robin and Jo Pope first embarked on the adventure of opening their own safari lodges, they could have had no idea of what was to come. What started as a couple of lodges in Zambia quickly transformed into what is now one of the best wilderness experiences in the South Luangwa. 30 years down the line, Robin Pope Safaris is one the most renowned safari operators in Africa and boasts 9 luxury safari properties in both Zambia and Malawi.
Among the most favoured safari experiences are the Mobile Walking Safaris. As a special treat, in celebration of 3 decades of phenomenal safari adventures, Robin Pope Safaris will be offering a longer length safari. Guests will spend 9 nights (instead of 7 nights) out in temporary camps in the Zambian wilds, including one night under the stars. Days will be spent walking that wilderness and encountering incredible moments while being guided by highly experienced and passionate guides.
The safari will begin at Nkwali Camp where guests can relax and get a good night’s sleep in the comfortable bush homes before setting out into the wild the next morning. Guests will experience this remote area in the South Luangwa on a heightened level as they follow the Mupamadzi River, covering approximately 10kms on foot per day. The area is secluded and wild with a myriad of different animal specials and a huge variety of terrain and habitats. From insects to animal spoor, guests will be taught about the many fascinating facets of the bush.
Avoiding the midday heat, guests can then enjoy a relaxing siesta after lunch, before going for a walk around camp in the afternoon. They’ll return for sundowners and a ‘gourmet bush meal’ at camp, served around the fire and under the open sky. The nights are spent in fully serviced walk-in tents with full bedding. There is nothing ‘rustic’ about this camping experience.
Scheduled departures: 20 July, 01 August & 17 September 2016 only!
