Kafue – Africa’s second largest national park at 22 400km² / 13 900mi² – is reaping the benefits of the co-management agreement between the Zambian government and African Parks. Set up in 2022 to protect biodiversity, strengthen community development and increase revenue through tourism, the agreement has seen a significant increase in both revenue and visitor numbers in 2024.

Visitor numbers rose 42% to 23 828 visitors in 2024 while revenue increased by 25% to USD1.828-million. Eighty percent of all revenue is reinvested in the park activities.
